Fully functional and compliant gas systems, delivered on time and on budget
The Lyell Centre is a £21m collaborative project between the British Geological Survey (BGS) and Heriot-Watt University (HWU), to enable them to build on their expertise in land and marine conservation, geology and geo-science. This purpose-built facility required high purity laboratory gas systems.
The facility was jointly funded by Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) and HWU.
Key challenges
Design, supply and install high purity laboratory gas systems, including: hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, helium, carbon dioxide and air.
Co-ordinating the installation in multiple laboratories covering two floors of a new building.
Fast turnaround required.
Working with other contractors to bring the project in on time.
Satisfying the demands of all funding bodies.
